Success at Healthy Kids Day: Messy Monkeys

Thanks to the Indiana Arts Commission and Columbus Area Arts Council, Kids Discovery Factory was able was able to celebrate Messy Monkeys: Messy Emotions at the Southeastern IN YMCA's Healthy Kids Day.
The evening was a joyful and expressive experience for children and families alike! Local Author Sabrina Andonegui captivated young listeners with her heartfelt storytelling, giving away 25 free copies of her latest endeavor 'Messy Monkeys'. KDF staff lead a concurrent breath and movement workshop providing a fun and calming way for children to explore their emotions through physical activity and mindfulness. The event wrapped up with the opportunity to create a community art piece: "Messy Emotions". Utilizing process art, children were invited to focus on their own emtions while creating ping-pong shake art. Individual canvases were created representing the colorful spectrum of human emotions. These ping-pong canvases will create a collage to be displayed later this year.
