Join us for a Small World Garden Workshop!  Use a variety of natural and human-made materials to design a garden for fairies, insects, small animals, dinosaur figurines, or other small creatures. For use indoor or out. This workshop will build skills in creativity, design, critical thinking, and use of small tools (fine motor skills).  Take home your Small World Garden for continued play in your backyard or home.

Cost: $15 

Limit: 10 students

 

Join us for art-making using natural materials you can find all around us.  Our focus will be on the art-making process, creativity, exploration, use of materials, and possible group collaborations.  We will work with a variety of art materials in the outdoor space.  Children will have opportunities for full immersion in artistic endeavors to experience the joy of the process, as well as work on specific projects if they choose.  Children are welcome to take home what they make or just enjoy the process. (Plan to get messy.)

Youth Registered for this class will be introduced to Cubelets.  Cubelets are modular robotics. Each individual Cubelet can perform a specific task, and when combined in various ways complex robots can be created.
 
KDF staff will guide students as each week they master new skills and engineer Cubelet Robots that can complete assigned task!
 
This cummulative four week course will meet for 4 consecutive Wednesday evenings starting in Mid- Oct, and Ending in Mid-Nov.

Youth Registered for this class will be introduced to the concept of a Rube Goldberg Machine.  -  A Rube Goldberg machine is a contraption that uses a chain reaction to carry out a simple task. It performs a very basic job in a complicated way. -  They will work with peers to create a Rube Goldberg Machine that will carry out the simple tasks of dunking a cookie into a glass of milk.
 
KDF staff will help facilitate the use of simple machines and supplied materials to complete this task.  
This class is great for young inventors and builders to learn to work collaboratively to achieve their goals! Completed forms and payment ($10) must be received by Feb.8
